Lizzy May Quality Music for your Special Day

The rich, romantic sound of the cello has made it the popular alternative to the solo violinist for wedding ceremonies and receptions. It will enhance your special day with a touch of elegance and sophistication.

With many years of experience playing at a wide variety of wedding venues, from small events to large receptions at prestigious locations such as Killarney Cathedral, Woburn Abbey, Epsom Racecourse, Old Trafford, Amberley Castle and Kensington Palace, Lizzy has built up a reputation for providing professional, first class wedding entertainment. Whether you are looking for wedding music for the ceremony, reception or evening party – or all three – Lizzy can provide a complete package of varied entertainment, from background music to an eye-catching show.

Lizzy is happy to advise you in your selection of music for this most special of days. Here are some suggestions:

At the Wedding Ceremony the romantic sound of a traditional acoustic cello playing classics such as Bach’s Air on the G String or Pachelbel’s Canon sets the scene perfectly. Other popular music favourites include A Thousand Years, One Day Like This, Let There Be Love, Wonderful Tonight, Fields of Gold and All You Need Is Love  - but Lizzy has also played everything from Take That to Metallica!

At the Reception or Wedding Breakfast a background of classical/crossover/pop/film/Bollywood music (your choice) played on acoustic or electric cello. Classical examples include Puccini’s Nessun Dorma, Tchaikovsky’s Waltz from The Sleeping Beauty and Saint-Saëns’ The Swan. Pop examples range from the Beatles to Coldplay and Take That.

Some clients prefer background music throughout the reception while others opt for background music while drinks/meal is being served, followed by a choreographed 20-min Electric Cello Show to round off the event.

At the Reception or the Evening Party the Electric Cello Pop Show - a very different tempo, with her futuristic-looking sparkling silver cello. This is the perfect prelude to the evening band - full of energy to get everyone on their feet! All-time favourites such as Viva la Vida - Coldplay,Toccata (hip-hop version) - Bach, Variations - Paganini/Lloyd Webber, Palladio - Karl Jenkins, Jai Ho ('Slumdog Millionaire') - Pussycat Dolls, Fever - Peggy Lee. Professionally produced orchestral accompaniment gives the Electric Cello Show a full multi-instrument sound. For example most of the music on this website use accompaniments specifically commissioned for the Electric Cello Show. The resulting sound is not a “solo” cello! Please see here for more details of the Electric Cello Show: www.lizzymay.com

Having had professional lessons from the Royal Academy’s much acclaimed singing coach Mary Hammond, Lizzy has also mastered the art of singing and playing the cello simultaneously. So if there is a special song that you would like her to sing at your wedding please let her know.

These are just examples. The entertainment is always tailored to meet your specific requirements. If you have a favourite tune that isn’t on her standard repertoire, let her know can she can probably source it and arrange it for cello. There may be a small charge for this.
